As an instructor, I’m always searching for ways to continually engage my students and make learning fun for them.

While on Christmas break, my youngest son received a LeapStart Learning System and we began using it right away. He was engaged and having a great time while using it and at the same time learning!

I immediately began researching LeapFrog products. During my research, I found a series of tablets that are age appropriate for my second-grade class. I was blown away by the adaptability of the tablets and the software. I also found Leap Reader pens that will read the book for the student and provide them support for writing. I knew I wanted these in my classroom and I had to find a way to purchase them.

As I researched possible purchase options, I came across a website called DonorsChoose.org. It was simple for me to create a project called The Distance Between Us, and I told a story of students in a classroom and the challenges that they face.

I was able to shop through Amazon Business and select the products I wanted to receive donations for. To my surprise, my project was fully funded within 6 days! Parents, friends, family and even anonymous donors participated and help this project come to life!

Donators were so generous, there were enough funds left for us to also get a LeapPad Ultimate tablet and a set of 10 Scholastic Classroom Magazines for the classroom.

We have the technology in the classroom and I am actively getting support to set them up and introduce these great resources to the students. We are all so excited and cannot wait to use our new learning tools. I can’t wait to see the huge smiles on their faces as they play and learn.
